Your season,
finally organized.
PRODUCTION PLANNING MADE EASY
Seam Allowance replaces the spreadsheets, sticky notes, and disconnected files that independent clothing brands use to manage production—bringing your styles, fabrics, suppliers, costs, inventory, and production orders together in one professional workspace.
Plan smarter. Order with confidence. Finally know exactly what your collection will cost before production begins.
Smarter planning, more efficient production, and professional purchase orders all in one place (and it’s not a spreadsheet).
DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?
Your production season is spread across a dozen files
Independent clothing brands manage the same production process as major fashion companies—styles, fabrics, suppliers, costing, inventory, and production orders—but without the software that connects it all.
Instead, everything lives across spreadsheets, email threads, notebooks, calculators, and countless versions of the same document. One small change can mean updating half a dozen files manually. Production shouldn't feel like this.
Spreadsheet Chaos
Five versions of the same cost sheet. Nobody knows which one is current.
Surprise Stockouts
Brand tags disappear. Fabric arrives short. Nobody realizes until production has already stopped.
Guessing Fabric Requirements
Calculating yields, widths, colourways, and fabric requirements by hand—and hoping nothing was missed.
Disorganized production orders
Different versions of purchase orders creating unnecessary mistakes and expensive delays.
One workspace for your entire production season.
Instead of managing every step separately, Seam Allowance connects your production workflow from start to finish.
Update a fabric price, adjust a yield, receive a new fabric shipment, or submit a production order—and every connected calculation updates automatically.
Built around how independent clothing brands actually work.
Not enterprise software with hundreds of features you'll never use. Just the tools you actually need.
-

Style and fabric libraries
Build a permanent library of styles, fabrics, tags, trims, and suppliers that can be reused season after season. Store yields, pricing, supplier details, inventory, and production information in one place.
-

Professional Production Orders
Generate clean, branded production orders with your styles, colours, quantities, size breakdowns, and production details already organized for your factory.
-

Low-stock alerts
Never get caught mid-production without the labels or fabric you need. Set thresholds for every tag and fabric, and get alerted before you run out — not after.
-

Supplier & Production Partner Management
Keep your mills, trim suppliers, fabric vendors, and production partners organized with all of their contact information connected directly to your projects and purchase orders.
Make smarter production decisions.
Before you commit to production, understand exactly how every decision affects your bottom line. Compare fabric options, adjust garment production costs, factor in tags and trims, and see how each change impacts your cost per unit, retail pricing, and projected profit margin—so you can move forward with confidence, not guesswork.
Compare production scenarios — Test different fabrics, production costs, and pricing before placing your order.
Understand your true costs — Factor in materials, garment production, tags, and other expenses to calculate your total cost per piece.
Protect your margins — See how every decision affects your projected profit so you can price strategically before production begins.
Setup once. Update with ease.
Your styles, fabrics, tags, suppliers, and production orders all live in the same platform. Add a new fabric, assign it to a style, and your costs update. Submit a production order and your tag inventory depletes automatically. Every part of your season is connected — so nothing falls through the cracks.
Build your libraries
Add your styles, fabrics, tags, and suppliers. Set costs, yields, and contact details. A one-time setup that grows with your brand.
Create a season
Build your collection by selecting the styles you'll be producing.

Receive new inventory, update costs, add new styles, and manage changes throughout the season without rebuilding spreadsheets.
I built the tool I wish I'd had the first time.
Before Seam Allowance, I built and ran my own Canadian clothing brand.
Like many independent founders, I started with spreadsheets because they worked—until they didn't. As production grew, so did the complexity. Fabric costs changed. Inventory became harder to track. Margins became increasingly difficult to understand. Small production mistakes added up to expensive lessons.
When I started planning my next brand, I went looking for software built specifically for independent apparel brands.
I couldn't find it. So I built it.
Today I'm using Seam Allowance alongside our users. That means the platform continues to evolve based on real production—not assumptions. Every improvement comes from solving problems we're actively experiencing together.

Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you're managing your production process in spreadsheets, juggling supplier emails, or simply trying to keep track of what's happening across multiple styles and production runs, you're not alone.
This platform was built by someone who has experienced the complexity of apparel production firsthand. Below you'll find answers to some of the most common questions about the platform, subscriptions, onboarding, and support.
About the Pilot
What is the Founding Pilot Program?
The Founding Pilot Program is a small group of independent clothing brands helping test and refine Seam Allowance before its public launch. Pilot members receive exclusive introductory pricing, personal onboarding, and direct access to the founder while using the platform during real production.
Who is the pilot designed for?
The pilot is designed for independent clothing brands that manage their own product development and production. Whether you work with a local manufacturer or an overseas factory, Seam Allowance is designed to simplify your production workflow.
Do I need to have a production run coming up?
Yes. We are looking for brands entering production in the near future so the platform can be tested during a real production cycle, rather than only explored out of curiosity.
How many pilot spots are available?
We are intentionally keeping the pilot small so every participating brand receives hands-on support and has an opportunity to influence the platform’s development directly.
What is expected from pilot members?
We ask pilot members to use the platform actively during production and provide honest feedback. That may include sharing ideas, reporting bugs, or suggesting improvements based on their workflow.
What happens after the pilot?
Our goal is to continue improving Seam Allowance based on pilot feedback before expanding to a wider public launch. Pilot members will be among the first to experience new features as they are released.
Getting Started
Will you help me set everything up?
Absolutely. Every pilot member receives personal onboarding to help set up their styles, fabrics, suppliers, tags, and first production season.
Do I have to move everything out of my spreadsheets?
No. Most brands begin by entering only the information needed for their next production run. There is no need to recreate years of historical data before getting started.
How long does setup take?
Most brands can be up and running within a few hours, depending on how many styles, fabrics, and suppliers they are adding.
Production & Features
What can I manage inside Seam Allowance?
Seam Allowance brings together your styles, fabrics, suppliers, inventory, costing, production planning, and production orders in one connected workspace.
Can I manage multiple collections or seasons?
Yes. Each production season can be managed separately while reusing the same style, fabric, supplier, and inventory libraries.
Can I work with multiple suppliers and production partners?
Yes. Store your fabric suppliers, trim vendors, mills, and garment manufacturers in one place, then connect them directly to your projects and production orders.
Can I manage multiple colourways and size runs?
Absolutely. Each production order can include multiple colourways and detailed size breakdowns.
How are fabric requirements calculated?
Fabric requirements are calculated using your style yields while accounting for factors such as fabric width, directional cutting, and production quantities. This helps you create more accurate fabric orders before production begins.
How does inventory tracking work?
Track fabrics and tags as inventory arrives. When a production order is completed, Seam Allowance deducts the connected quantities so you have a clearer picture of what remains available.
Can I update costs after I have created a season?
Yes. If a fabric price, production cost, or yield changes, Seam Allowance updates the connected calculations throughout your project.
How are profit margins calculated?
Seam Allowance combines your fabric costs, garment production costs, tags, and other production expenses to estimate your cost per garment and projected gross margin. This helps you make pricing decisions before production begins.
Can I compare different production scenarios?
Yes. Adjust fabrics, pricing, yields, and production costs to understand how each decision affects projected profitability before placing an order.
What happens when I complete a production order?
Seam Allowance creates a professional production order that can be exported and shared with your manufacturer. Completing the order also updates the connected fabric and tag inventory in the platform.
Pricing
How much does the pilot cost?
Pilot members receive exclusive introductory pricing of $29.99 per month, representing 50% off the planned public Starter plan price.
Will my pricing increase after the pilot?
Founding pilot members will be notified well in advance of any future pricing changes. Full details will be shared before any change takes effect.
Is there a contract?
No. Pilot memberships are month-to-month and can be cancelled at any time.
Security & Support
Is my business information secure?
Yes. Your production information is stored securely and is accessible only within your account.
What happens if I find a bug?
That is one of the reasons we are running a pilot. If you encounter an issue or have an idea for improving the platform, you will have direct access to report it and help shape future updates.
Will new features continue to be added?
Absolutely. Seam Allowance is actively evolving, and pilot members will receive early access to new features as they become available.
